Mednarodna podiplomska šola Jožefa Stefana - MPŠ, Ljubljana (SLO)
The Jožef Stefan International High School (MPŠ) was founded in 2004 as an autonomous academic institution on the initiative of the “Jožef Stefan” Institute, in collaboration with the industry sector (Gorenje, Kolektor, Salonit) and the international university network and participating institutions.
The didactic program of the MPŠ foresees interdisciplinary and international postgraduate study courses of different addresses, among which courses in Ecotechnology and Sensor Technology. It also carries out research activities in the context of numerous national and international research and development projects. In the field of the development of remote controlled robotic platforms (underwater, terrestrial) and electromagnetic sensors for the execution of non-destructive checks, it participated in an important UNCOSS project (FP7 EU) by creating a remote controlled underwater system for the detection of explosive substances on the sea and river bottoms.
Within this and other similar projects (GUARDED, E-STAR), the MPŠ researchers have acquired numerous knowledge and experience in the field of sensor integration within compact systems, the development of software for platform management remote-controlled robots and sensors. Thanks to these projects, MPŠ has acquired cutting-edge instrumentation for underwater detection that it is willing to further develop for other types of applications, such as underwater sampling of biofouling from the hull of ships, the main theme of the GreenHull project.
Assistants and professors of environmental sciences also operate within the research group coordinated by Prof. Milena Horvat. Their experiences and knowledge derive from research in the field of chemistry and environmental monitoring, modeling of processes and assessment of environmental impacts. They also offer support in the development of green technologies and waste treatment systems.
