ARPA FVG is the regional body responsible for the protection of the environment and within its institutional tasks it deals, among other things, with ensuring a complete and constantly updated knowledge framework on municipal and special waste produced in Friuli Venezia Giulia and on their management, in particular with regard to flows (national and cross-border). The Agency's Waste Observatory is responsible for the collection of regional data on the production and management of municipal and special waste, the processing of data for subsequent submission to the National Cadastre at ISPRA and the Region, and control over national and cross-border flows some waste. The staff of the Observatory also has expertise in the field of waste on European, national and regional regulations and has also gained experience in drafting guidelines and on participation in regional and national working groups. Another relevant sector concerns the evaluation of the ecological, chemical and chemical-physical quality of marine waters; the search for emerging priority substances in sea water, the control of discharges. In this context, ARPA manages a laboratory that has been carrying out analyzes on waste for several years, both for the purposes of characterization and for the definition of landfill eligibility; it also carries out chemical, chemical - physical and biological monitoring of marine waters for the purpose of classifying their quality status and carries out analytical checks on domestic, urban and industrial waste water.
