The Trieste Port Authority has for years been committed to defending the environment; in fact, APT was a partner of the SAFEPORT project, co-financed by the 2007-2013 Cross-border Cooperation Program Italy-Slovenia, which envisaged the adoption of cross-border guidelines to reduce emissions in the port area and the risks of pollution deriving from sea transport of dangerous substances. In addition, APT is ISO 14001 certified, that certifies the choice of an organization, on a voluntary basis, to equip itself with an environmental management system capable of keeping its impacts under control, aiming at improving environmental performance.
