The project offers new solutions to the common challenges of the APR that imply the need to develop innovative green technologies (BTI) to clean up the growth of vegetation on ships and the wastewater deriving from the cleaning process. In addition to the BTI, a cross-border system model for the management of cleaning waste will be developed, according to national, European and international legislation, which represents a further new solution in the APR.

Public-private cross-border cooperation is envisaged, vital for the development of the BTI for the control, monitoring and management of water for cleaning the IBSN and the definition of the treatment of waste produced by cleaning the hull. The cross-border collaboration and the incentives provided by GreenHull are also important for the development and use of BTI for the cleaning of ships, currently little used in the APR.

The new BTI will be developed on the basis of good practices deriving from the previous FP7 UNCOSS project which has developed and tested a multisensory robotic system which in the project will be adapted to the needs of the topic.

A new solution to the project will also be the
establishment of cross-border collaboration for monitoring the environmental risks of water pollution from hazardous waste and allogeneic species in this type of cleaning which also contributes to solving this problem in the APR.

The decisive step with which the project will reduce the risks of marine pollution from the waste resulting from the growth of IBSN on the hull will be the
preparation of cross-border guidelines and strategies that will significantly integrate the legislation relating to the cleaning of IBSN and the management of waste water and hazardous waste generated.

The development of the BTI, given the lack or absence of such technology on the APR market, will also contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the territory on the global market.
